We are huge fans of writer Jeff Lemire; we’ve gushed oodles about our love of his entire library, particularly BOOM! Studios’ Minor Arcana. And we’ve added another Lemire-written comic among our favorites: The Fury of Firestorm. Written Lemire with senses-stunning art by Rafael de Latorre, The Fury of Firestorm is among the best of DC Comics’ “Next Level” books, not to mention one of the most engaging series currently being published. Lemire and de Latorre have added a richness to the Firestorm mythos that has made his tales engaging in a way that puts it at the top of stories about the hero.

And this week, DC Comics has gifted Fury fans with more of Lemire and de Latorre’s series with the announcement via press release that The Fury of Firestorm will continue through issue #15 into next year:
As The Fury of Firestorm #6 arrives in comic shops today, DC announced that the acclaimed DC Next Level series will continue through issue #15, extending Jeff Lemire and Rafael de Latorre’s hit reimagining of Firestorm with six additional issues.
In the current issue, Firestorm has the city of Pittsburgh trapped and is going to start dismantling it atom by atom. Can Firehawk finally break through the Matrix’s control and reach Ronnie before it’s too late?!
This is clearly a book that is a labor of love for Lemire, and the writer expressed those sentiments.
“The Fury of Firestorm has been one of those dream projects that just keeps giving,” said Lemire. “Much like the Firestorm matrix, the story has taken on a life of its own and just keeps expanding into new and unexpected directions.”
And we. Are. All. In. Our heart is warmed with the power of a nuclear blast.
The Fury of Firestorm #6 is on sale now from DC Comics.
